Select Coaches / Evaluators / Pictures / Misc Notes

Hello PYS family, some quick notes for you for today.

1)      Select Coach appointments

Our U12 and U14 Select Coaches for 2017-18 will be chosen at the next Board meeting which will be 6/7 at 7pm at the Community Center.  All interested coaches should come to the meeting ready to present their qualifications.

* Note, our board meetings are typically the second Wednesday of the month, but in order to determine our select coaches prior to tryouts, a date change was necessary.

2)      Tryout evaluators needed

Knowledgeable evaluators are needed for our 6/10 and 6/11 Select tryouts.  If you are able to help out on these days, please visit our Volunteering page on the website (url is below).  Once you have signed in, you’ll be able to select the session(s) that you can work.  If you do sign up, we’d appreciate it if you could plan to work both days for that same age group for consistency.  This isn’t required, but it would be very helpful.  Please note, if you have children trying out, you are not eligible to evaluate your child’s division unless you have already been selected as the coach.

3)      PYS Picture Day

Dad’s Photo will once again be coordinating our PYS Team and Individual pictures on Saturday 5/20, in the Hobomock cafeteria.  Please see below, the schedule for your team, the instructions for online ordering, and the order form.  This date is rain or shine.

4)      Dogs

We know you love your dogs.  We love your dogs too.  Now that we've gotten that out of the way, please leave them at home.  Even when they are not on the actual field, they can and do still cause damage to the grass around the fields and we work very hard to keep our fields looking as nice as they do.  Thank you for granting this request.

5)      Parking & Fire Lanes

In recent weeks, we’ve seen a rise in parking violations at the fields.  Some of it can certainly be attributed to the faded paint lines and also to out of town teams, but we need your help in making sure we keep our parking lots safe and passable for emergency vehicles.  Please ensure that you are only parking in marked spaces, and most importantly, you are not parking in the Fire Lanes that are indicated in red on the linked map below.  If you do park there, you may find your vehicle towed upon your return.

2017/18 Select Tryout Info and Schedule-!! Corrected Times v2 !!

A previous version of this update had mixed up the date of the PMC Kids Ride. The affected day is Sunday. Saturday will be at the normal time, Sunday will be 30 mins earlier than originally scheduled. Sorry for any confusion.

Select tryouts for the 2017-2018 Season for both U12/U14 Girls and Boys teams will take place on Saturday, June 10th AND Sunday, June 11th.

In a change for 2017, prospective players will now have two opportunities to tryout.  Players may come one or both days.  Should they try-out both days, the lower of their two scores will be discarded.

There is no additional fee to try-out or play for a Select team.

Boys evaluations will be in the mornings, girls will be in the afternoons.   Goalkeepers will be in between both days. All Goalkeeper candidates MUST take full part in field player evaluations in order to be considered for the team.

  • Boys Session begins both days at 9:00am Saturday at 9am, Sunday at 8:30am. Please arrive by 8:30am on Saturday and 8:00am on Sunday to check-in.
    • !!!! Note the times for Sunday have shifted earlier by 30 minutes in order to accomodate the PMC Kids Ride taking place at Hobomock. We expect Learning Lane and the surrounding roads to be shut down around 8:30 to clear them for the riders, so be sure to be early. !!!!
  • Boys Goalkeeper Session begins at 11:30pm.

  • Girls Session begins both days at 1:00pm. Please arrive by 12:30pm to check-in.
  • Girls Goalkeeper Session begins at 12:15pm. Please arrive by 12:00 to check-in.

All prospective players must already be registered for the 2017/18 season in order to be eligible to tryout. Should a player try-out and not be selected for a team, they are not eligible for a refund.

Registration for the 2017/18 U12 and U14 seasons, as well as for the Select Tryouts can be found here:
