You Can Still Donate Your Old Jerseys, Balls and Cleats
by posted 06/15/2019

We have collected over 30 uniforms, 20 soccer balls and 30 pairs of cleats to support United Kidz Soccer Development.

With only a handful of soccer games scheduled at the PYS fields, our players will not be at the fields but bins will be available next to the snack bar to drop off uniforms and a large barrel will be available for anyone wishing to donate old cleats and soccer balls.

We will also be collecting jerseys and equipment through Select Tryouts this week at the fields.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kevin Williams at veep.pys@gmail.com .

Thank you for helping our kids grow as community-minded individuals, and for helping those in need!

Select Tryout Registration is OPEN
by posted 06/11/2019

Registration for players entering grades 5 through 8, who wish to tryout for one of the Select teams in the U12 and U14 Boys and Girls Division is available through the Select Tryout Registration link under Registration.

In order to tryout, players must also register as a player for the 2019-2020.  The player registration link is also available through the Select Tryout Registration link.

Tryout Registration Details

Which players should report when?

  • 5th and 6th grade field players arrive at 4:45pm.  Tryouts will be conducted from 5-6:30pm

  • Goalkeepers of all ages/genders will tryout from 6:30-7pm.

  • 7th and 8th grade field players arrive at 6:45pm.  Tryouts will be conducted from 7-8:30pm

  • Goalies must participate in both the field and goalie sessions

Players may come one or both days.  Should a player try-out both days, the lower of their two scores will be discarded.

Depending on the depth of the tryout player pool, it may be possible that PYS will field two Select teams for each division, an "A" team and a "B" team.  This determination isn't able to be made until after the tryout process is complete.

Should a player try-out and not be selected for a Select team, they will be placed on a non-Select team for the fall/spring seasons.

If your child is unable to attend either of the sessions, they are still eligible to make a Select team by writing a note to the PYS Executive Board prior to the tryouts.  In that note, please explain the circumstances as to why they are unable to tryout and request that they be considered as one of the few Coach's selections

My daughter, Mari, had a fantastic time......this was her first ever summer camp experience.  The first thing she asked when we got in the car was "can I do both weeks next year?!" - Liz

One Kid's Trash can be Another Kid's Treasure
by posted 06/06/2019

We got off to a great start last week collecting 12 uniforms, 10 soccer balls and 10 pairs of cleats to support United Kidz Soccer Development. We’ll be collecting uniforms and equipment at the PYS fields, again, this Saturday from 10am – 3pm (see details below). Take this opportunity to clean out old gear you no longer need and make a difference. Learn More about UKSD http://www.uksd.org/help-us.html The PYS Board Donate Your Old Soccer Items for a Great Cause Old soccer uniforms and equipment building up? Consider donating your old PYS travel uniforms and gently used cleats and soccer balls to kids in need. On June 1st, June 8th and June 15th, bins will be available at the Snack Bar at Hobomock Fields. See important notes below. Two of our PYS players are collecting these items for United Kidz Soccer Development, a non-profit organization that is helping the community through soccer. Since 2011, UKSD has provided, totally free of charge, soccer programming and equipment to thousands of young people throughout the U.S., the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East, while educating participants about social issues, such as homelessness, hunger, and substance abuse. Please see the UKSD website for more information about the organization. Important notes: • Uniforms should only be the PYS travel uniforms (shirts and shorts, only) that the U10 – U19 age groups use in Coastal League play. Don’t forget, if your child plans to play in the Fall of 2019, that they need to keep their current uniform. Please only donate old, clean uniforms from previous years. • Gently used soccer balls should be cleaned and flat (if possible). • Gently used cleats should be free of dirt and, as the kids recommend, not “super smelly.” If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kevin Williams at veep.pys@gmail.com . Thank you for helping our kids grow as community-minded individuals, and for helping those in need! The PYS Board
